Liv® Daniela™ in the box

The kind folks at Spin Master offered to send me samples of some Liv® products (read more here and here) so I could write about them. They sent a Daniela™ doll, a wig, and an accessory set.

I'm not sure how much detail to go into (obviously I could write a lot ), so I thought it would be better to find out what you want to know about them? Liv products are already showing up at retail stores and I'm sure some adult collectors are still trying to decide if these dolls will "work for them" (for whatever they like to do with dolls - redressing, body-swapping, customizing, etc.). I'm going to write more detail later, but if there's anything you're wondering about, let me know - I'd be happy to try and answer any questions before I send the items back to Spin Master.

Until then, here are my general impressions:

The quality of the doll itself is very high. Don't let the US$19.99 price point fool you - if I didn't know better, I would assume it was closer to US$29.99.

There are definitely some things that could be improved - especially with the wigs (and yes, the brushes are just as useless as I thought they would be ) - but overall I think kids and collectors will both have a lot of fun with these dolls. I would never guess this was Spin Master's first-ever fashion doll if I didn't already know - it doesn't have a "first-timer" feel at all. Everything is very well-thought-out. I think the designers, artists, and engineers did a great job.

I want to get more detail-y, but I'm not sure the 9-page dissertation I'm tempted to make would be helpful. (I'm guessing not. ) So, what are you wondering about?

BTW, I put up some more pictures of this doll on Flickr.
